So, you are preparing for the IELTS speaking module. We understand that waiting patiently for an exam without any syllabus is one of the most difficult things to do. Nervousness creeps into your heart even if you do not want to. In this article, we talk about some common topics for IELTS speaking cue cards. However, we begin with some tips for you to practice at home so that you can avoid trapping yourself in an imaginary prison and locking your brain in nervousness.
Remember, nervousness is a genuine problem. Although it begins in your mind, it shows physical symptoms. You will have shortened breathing, blurred vision, dry throat, and so many other things.
So, it is very important for you to manage yourself with force to get rid of all kinds of unnecessary thoughts. Take deep breaths. You can breathe inside a paper bag or plastic bag. Usually, it helps during panic attacks.
However, if you have chronic panic attacks, you should talk to a physician and get some medical advice.
Try not to think about the exam itself. It will make you nervous. Talk to someone waiting beside you, strike a casual conversation, walk for a bit, read a newspaper, and stay calm.
Just relax. As you do not know what your topic will be, it is simply useless to stress yourself over it.
In the Cue card selection section, you will be given a topic and some points on the topic. You will have 1 minute to prepare your response, and 2 minutes to deliver your speech.
These are some sample topics. This list by no means can be taken for granted. You practice based on this list and brainstorm for more related to these topics.
Practice is very important. So, you practice and practice some more. Practicing like a mad person will develop your skills beyond anyone’s wildest imagination. Best of luck!
