You may also face something similar, like, sudden death in the family, or you may have fallen sick all of a sudden. In this situation, you will need to cancel your IELTS exam because you will not be taking it. Therefore, you will need a refund. To attend to your unforeseen grievances, this article talks about the IELTS cancelation and refund policy.

IELTS test Cancelation

As you are taking your IELTS test in New Zealand, you will be charged or refunded in New Zealand dollars. If you cancel your test 5 weeks ahead of your official date, a part of your registration fee will be taken as an administration fee and you will receive NZD75 as a refund. You will need to wait 4 to 6 weeks before you get your money refunded, please bear in mind that.

You will have to download the cancellation form and fill in the necessary information and send it via email to the test center where you registered for your test. Please, print the form, fill in the information, sign it, and send the scanned copy. You have to SIGN the form. Please, remember that.

You can get a refund of 75 percent of your test fees if you can show an authentic verifiable medical certificate that confirms that you were sick on the test day. You will have to submit the request refund form with all the necessary data within five working days from your official test date.

Medical certificates must be in English. If the center, where you have registered for your IELTS test, is unable to receive the refund form within 5 working days from your official test date, the authority will mark you as absent, and all of your claims will be forfeit. 

You need to hand-deliver the medical certificate. The test center will not accept a photocopy or an email copy. Sick notes written by family members are not accepted, please remember.

A Test Day Transfer Request

Sometimes you make a reservation for an IELTS test, but something very important comes up, and you have to change the date. In a case like this, you will have to make a request for the transfer of the test date. 

You can do the transfer for free, but you need to apply for the transfer 5 weeks before your registered test date. You have to keep the time in mind.

Another important thing to remember is that you cannot transfer your test date arbitrarily anywhere. You can choose within the time frame of 3 months from the test date you had registered for. 

If you want to transfer your original test date because of an illness, you need to produce an authentic medical certificate. You need to do this within the first 5 working days from the date of your original test. 

So, fill out the refund and transfer form and attach the medical certificate and drop it at the testing center you have registered from. This will be allowed for free. However, if you fall ill on the 2nd test date, you will not be allowed any refund.

Can I get a refund if I cancel my IELTS exam?

Yes, you can definitely apply for cancelation and refund of your registration fees. You have to apply for cancelation and refund at least 5 weeks prior to your registered test date.

How long does it take to get a refund from IELTS?

After you have submitted your application, you will need to wait for another 4 to 6 weeks for the refund to arrive.

If you miss your interview, nothing can be done about it. You will be marked as absent. You will have to take the exam once again by registering again with fees.

Can we apply for IELTS with expired passport?

No, your passport must have at least six months of validity.

Can I reschedule my IELTS speaking test?

Yes, you can. You need to contact the testing center you are registered to and apply for a reschedule. However, only the center can change the dates.

Can I retake IELTS writing only?

No, you cannot take just only one of the modules alone. You will have to take the whole exam.
