You can enter Canada for many reasons, however, two particular reasons are prevalent – skilled migration and study. We will talk about skilled migration language requirements here.

The version of IELTS you will need to take to submit your application as a skilled worker is the General Training version of IELTS. There are a few differences between the Academic version and the General Training version of the test in reading and writing sections. 

However, listening and speaking parts are the same for both versions. If you have enough scores for work experience and education, getting a band score of 6.5 will work for you. Canada asks for a very high standard of English. 

However, if your English is good, you should try to get the magical 8777 scores. It means that you need to get 8, 7, 7, and 7 on listening, writing, reading, and speaking respectively. This will ensure a full mark in the language requirement.
